Cookie Policy

This page explains how FishSpins uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our site. We keep it straightforward: cookies help us remember your preferences and understand how visitors use the portal, but you remain in control of what gets stored.

How this site remembers you

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. When you return, the site reads that file and recognises settings you chose on an earlier visit. We use cookies to keep you logged into your account, remember your language preference, and store choices you made in forms so you don't have to fill them in again.

Session cookies exist only while your browser is open and disappear when you close the tab. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period—usually between a few days and two years—so the site can recognise you next time.

The analytics question

We use analytics cookies to see which pages visitors read, how long they stay, and where they arrive from. This tells us which sections work well and which need clearer writing. These cookies collect data in aggregate; we see overall patterns rather than tracking individual journeys through the site.

You can decline analytics cookies through the banner that appears when you first visit. The portal remains fully functional without them—declining affects only our internal reporting, not your access to content.

Category Purpose Consent required
Necessary Session management, security, form memory No – essential for the site to work
Analytics Visitor counts, page popularity, traffic sources Yes
Marketing Advertising performance, retargeting Yes
Preference Language choice, display settings No – you asked for these

Scripts we do not control

Some pages embed content from third-party services—video players, social-media widgets, advertising networks. Those services may set their own cookies when the embedded element loads. We do not control what those cookies do or how long they last.

Third-party cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the organisations that set them. If you visit a page carrying a YouTube video, for example, Google's cookie policy applies to any cookies YouTube places on your device through that embed.

Your options

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. The steps differ slightly between them:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

Blocking all cookies will prevent you from logging into the portal and may reset your preferences every time you visit. Blocking only third-party cookies usually leaves the site working normally while limiting tracking by external services.

The consent banner that appears on your first visit lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies before any are set. You can change that choice later by clearing your cookies in the browser—the banner will reappear the next time you visit.

Revisions

We update this policy when we add new features or change how cookies are used. The date at the bottom of the page shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

If you have questions about how we use cookies, contact the editorial team at [email protected].
